ABOUT THE SCULPTURE

Ahoy, Me Hearties! ‘X’ marks the spot as Pirate Penguin comes ashore after sailing the Southend high seas in search of buried treasure! With his trusty feathered friend on his shoulder and guided by his little sea creature buddies all around, he has indeed discovered a chest full of shiny gold coins - see how they glisten and glimmer! Will they now be heading to the pirate- themed rides at Adventure Island to spend their bounty or maybe to the bright lights of the amusement arcades?! Pirate Penguin is inspired by Southend’s prime coastal position and is a fun, friendly sculpture with plenty of little details to spot for all trail goers.
