James Higgs is a Southend-on-Sea-based multidisciplinary artist whose work reflects eco-activism, conservation, and punk culture. He combines bold illustration and design to challenge viewers and highlight the environmental impact of human behaviour. James also leads creative projects at Rev.01 Studio in Southend, delivering branding, video, and digital content.
ABOUT THE SCULPTURE
James designed his penguin as a character that embodies the spirit of Southend-on-Sea, creating something that both children and adults can connect with. His aim was to craft a friendly, memorable figure that brings a sense of fun and nostalgia, inviting people of all ages to interact with him and capture special moments. His playful design is a joyful and relatable mascot for residents and visitors alike.
